Brand Licensing 2012 University of Oxford Licensing Programme Preview

The University of Oxford brand licensing programme will be represented at BLE 2012 by its agent for the UK and Europe, Performance Brands, on stand E045.
Oxford University is famous for its academic excellence and research, its heritage and sporting traditions, its wealth of archives and collections, and its notable Alumni. The University of Oxford brand licensing programme draws all these elements together to create a powerful consumer proposition developed in partnership with licensees and agents.
The last twelve months has seen the back to school category go from strength to strength with new deals in Italy, Poland, Romania and Iberia. The preppy trend for clean-cut, yet relaxed campus style clothing continues to be driven by high profile fashion brands such as Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren, which in turn is creating major interest in Oxford from apparel and fashion accessories prospects in Europe and the US.
Our global furniture licensee, Halo Asia, far exceeded sales expectations with the launch of the Oxford Collection last year at furniture and interiors trade shows around the world. The 2013 collection will be premiered at Maison & Objet in Paris, in September, under the ‘Oxford by Timothy Oulton’ brand. Inspired by the heritage and traditions of Oxford, the new ranges of furniture, soft furnishings and bags are also influenced by the preppy trend and present Oxford in a traditional vintage style complemented by dashing stripes and daring colours.
UK kitchen textiles partner, McCaw Allan, has also used pattern based on botanic drawings from the University’s Botanic Gardens as well as the script from the papal legate from 1214 to great effect on T towels , aprons, oven gloves etc, all of which will be launched at retail this autumn.
Managed by Oxford Limited on behalf of the University, the Oxford licensing programme continues to increase its brand assets that are available to licensees, and will this autumn launch a digital gallery of imagery and pattern for licensees to browse and download.
